  1. The meeting was attended by 12 members, including chairmen of subject committees, and 6 sent their apologies.
The chairman outlined the contents of his annual report to the AGM and Charity Commissioners commenting on the large number of initiatives taken to strengthen the Society in the past year, his thanks for the support the group has received in its inaugural year and his optimism for 2013/14. He distributed a paper explaining the group’s role and duties as a sub-committee of the Trustee Board and, as covered by its approved terms of reference, and encouraged members to work in that way.
Progress on the group’s priorities and action plans was reviewed and necessary co-ordination work on the organisation for the SANHS Event & Seminars Programme was undertaken. Papers were presented and discussed on a SANHS Awards scheme and a Prestige Lecture Series. The programmes were specified for 2014/15 and referred back to their working sub-groups for further consideration.
Following a decision of the Development and Policy committee, a register of Somerset projects of interest to the Society has been drafted. Meetings to introduce new (and other) members to the Society will be organised and aspects of access to the Society’s Collections will be addressed. A revised booking and attendance form that assists event leaders/organisers meet their duties to attendees was circulated and the final draft of the SANHS Event card for April to October 2013 was handed out. It was welcomed and noted that it is a very full programme of events organised by the subject committees including an increased number of workshop events involving skills transfer and ones suitable for younger participants.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 April at SHC.
